A Variety of Framing Designs for Steel Buildings

Metal building packages from Armour Steel feature a wide array of structural systems, as shown below, all available in standard or long span options. Crane support systems and mezzanines can also be included as part of the complete package. Your Armour Steel pre-eng metal building system can be designed to practically any dimensions to suit your requirements.

Clearspan Frames

Clear Span frames are used in buildings where unobstructed interior space (no interior columns) is needed. Think airplane hangars, equestrian centers and other indoor sports arenas (soccer and tennis clubs), warehouses, etc. We offer single slope or double slope (center peak) designs. Straight column frame designs can span up to 120'. Our tapered column frame designs (shown left) span up to 120' in single slope and 200' in double slope. All designs offer a peak height up to 60'.

Multi-Span Frames

Multi-span frames are used where the building layout permits or requires interior columns. The spacing between columns can be varied to suit customer need. We offer single slope or double slope designs. Straight column frame designs can span up to 120'. Our tapered column frame designs span up to 120' in single slope and 200' in double slope. Interior column spacing can be varied from 30' to 100'. All designs offer a peak height of 60'. This frame design is popular for manufacturing plants, warehouses, truck terminals and 'big box' stores.

Lean-to Frames

The Lean-to frame typically has a single slope (no ridge) and straight sidewall columns. It is used for expansion/extension of an existing building, therefore it must be supported on one side by attaching it to the existing building's frame. Lean-to framing is a very economical solution for adding additional storage or office space. We offer both clear span and multi-span designs with witdh up to 100' and height to 60'.

Robertson Long Bay^® System

The Long Bay system is an innovative steel roof framing product providing large areas of open floor space. It combines solid primary frames and pre-punched open web purlins to provide bay widths up to 65'. It's compatible with both straight and tapered interior and sidewall columns, and can be used with load bearing wall structures like pre-cast or tilt-up. The open web truss subframes simplify installation of mechanical and electrical systems while providing excellent roof support. The system is compatible with standing seam roofs and can be used with B-deck for a built-up or single-ply roof.
