More Than Strength: The Benefits of Crane-Ready Industrial Steel Buildings

When you think of steel buildings, the first word that comes to mind is probably strength. And that's true. But steel offers much more than exceptional durability. Metal buildings are designed to maximize space, improve workflow, and deliver long-term operational efficiency that other building materials simply can't match.

Custom Design & Build: Crane-Ready Steel Buildings for Material Handling
A 60' x 120' facility in Chester, Nova Scotia, was constructed for South Shore Concrete by Authorized Builder FAM Construction. The building was designed as a crane-ready steel structure equipped with two overhead cranes to support the company's manufacturing operations.
South Shore Concrete manufactures pavers, patio blocks, bricks for retaining walls and seawalls, as well as large curbs, tanks, and culverts. The overhead crane allows workers to move large items from one end of the building to the other. Using a remote control, a worker on the floor controls the crane to lift and move heavy concrete items from one end of the building out the door for shipment to the site. The result is a highly functional workspace that improves material handling, increases efficiency, and supports South Shore Concrete's day-to-day operations.

If your business depends on lifting, moving, or handling heavy materials, a crane-ready steel building can significantly improve workflow.
Optimizing Efficiency with Advanced Overhead Crane Systems
Modern material handling requires more than just an overhead crane. We provide a comprehensive range of lifting equipment and support systems to help optimize workflows, improve safety, and maximize available space, including:
Overhead cranes
Spreader beams
Jib cranes
Gantry cranes
Runway structures
Crane kits
Fall restraint & fall arrest
Lifting solutions
Maximize limited headroom
Conduct complex industrial processes
For the Chester project, O’Brien supplied an overhead crane to create a safer, more efficient workspace. The crane helped reduce safety risks while streamlining workflow and improving overall operational efficiency with multiple lifting or pick points.
At Canadian Metal Buildings, we design and manufacture custom steel buildings for businesses across Canada. As a trusted steel building supplier, we provided the solution for Chester, Nova Scotia, we can provide it for you.
