Canadian Metal Buildings (CMB) has received a $750,000 repayable contribution from the Government of Canada, through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), to support the development of its new manufacturing facility.

The funding supports CMB's larger $3.39-million investment in its manufacturing operations, helping accelerate the company's modernization plans and investment in advanced manufacturing capabilities.

Early in 2026, CMB announced plans for Canada’s most advanced pre-engineered metal building manufacturing facility, to be located in Welland, Ontario. This facility will include advanced manufacturing technologies, digital improvement across all company operations, modernization of CMB’s manufacturing capabilities resulting in improved productivity, efficiency and competitiveness within the industry.

“This investment is an important part of making CMB’s next stage of growth possible. The support from FedDev Ontario allows us to accelerate our investment in advanced manufacturing, technology and increased production capacity. We’re grateful for the Government of Canada’s support and its confidence in Canadian manufacturers like CMB as we continue to grow, create jobs and strengthen our ability to serve customers across Canada and beyond,” said Lucas Bruzzese, COO of Canadian Metal Buildings

The funding will help CMB to expand its operations to offer pre-engineered metal buildings solutions across Canada, not only expanding geographically but offering building systems for a wider range of Canadian industries.

According to Bruzzese “Canadian manufacturers are operating in an increasingly complex and competitive environment, including the uncertainty created by tariffs and changing global trade conditions. This investment helps CMB respond by improving productivity, increasing automation and strengthening our domestic manufacturing capacity. It allows us to become more efficient and competitive while continuing to invest, manufacture and

create jobs here in Canada.”

Canadian Metal Buildings is a family-owned Stoney Creek manufacturer that has been operating since 1971. With a rich history in the area, CMB has been providing local businesses with custom pre-engineered facilities, supporting the community through their work with CityKidz and building Hamilton's steel trades education through co-ops and career opportunities. CMB is aligned with the federal government on the importance Hamilton plays in the broader advanced manufacturing and steel production supply chain within Canada and aims to continue supporting the industry with the development of their new facility.

The investment represents the next step in CMB's continued growth and commitment to Canadian manufacturing. Through new technology, expanded capacity and a modernized manufacturing process, CMB is building the infrastructure needed to serve its Authorized Builder network and customers across Canada for years to come.
