Every detail of this custom barndominium was shaped around the homeowners' vision, bringing together spacious living areas, dedicated recreation spaces, and practical functionality within one cohesive design.
Every homeowner imagines their dream home a little differently. For this project, the vision extended beyond creating a beautiful place to live. It was about designing a home that reflected everyday routines, personal interests, and the flexibility to bring living, storage, and recreation together under one roof.
The layout was carefully planned to balance spacious open-concept living with practical spaces that support everyday life. Expansive common areas create natural gathering places for family and friends, while oversized garage bays and dedicated storage provide room for vehicles, equipment, and seasonal gear. Every room was positioned with purpose, creating a seamless transition between functional and residential spaces without sacrificing comfort or style.
cmb solution
Creating this level of flexibility required a structural system that placed very few limits on the interior design. Large clear-span construction eliminated the need for interior load-bearing walls throughout the main living areas, giving the homeowners complete freedom to shape the floor plan around their lifestyle rather than the structure itself.
The generous building footprint made it possible to combine expansive living spaces with oversized garage bays and integrated storage within one cohesive design. High ceilings and large window openings introduce natural light throughout the home, creating bright, welcoming interiors while strengthening the connection between the home and the surrounding landscape.
Rather than adapting a conventional house plan, the structure was engineered around the owners' vision, allowing every square foot to contribute to the way they wanted to live.
results
The completed home reflects a lifestyle built around comfort, practicality, and connection. Open living spaces encourage family gatherings, oversized functional areas provide room for everyday needs, and the thoughtful layout creates a natural balance between residential living and practical use.
By designing the home around the owners instead of asking them to adapt to a traditional floor plan, the finished barndominium delivers a space that feels uniquely theirs, combining the warmth of a custom home with the versatility and openness that steel construction makes possible.
